SY2024 - First Day of School Announcements from School Administration
School administration held Grade Level Meetings Monday morning to welcome students and share several important school expectations. We hope families will reinforce the policies and topics we have shared with students. Student expectations, policies and procedures are included in the Student Handbook on the school’s website. Below is some important information administration and staff communicated to students.
Social Media Expectations: Administration shared students are expected to refrain from posting negative photos or language on social media sites. We communicated the theme, “We ALL Belong.” Therefore, we are focused on affirming and supporting all in the school community.
Cell Phone and Technology Policy: Students should not utilize their cell phone during class time, unless instructed by a teacher, and ringers should be on mute or turned off. Additional information about the Cell Phone and Technology Policy is in the Student Handbook.
Safety-Security: All students must go through metal detectors when entering the building. School security are assigned to a floor throughout the building and will be visible to support safety protocols.
School begins at 9:00AM. All students are expected to be seated in their class by 9:00AM. The building is open to students at 7:30AM for breakfast. All students may receive a free breakfast.
Return from lunch: SWWHS have the privilege to go off campus for lunch. All students are expected to return from lunch in a timely manner to ensure on time arrival to their next class.
Academic Expectations: Students are expected to meet teacher deadlines for assignments, assessments, and additional class assignments. If a student is absent, students should see their teacher upon their return to school.
Academic and Mental Health Support: The counselors were introduced during the meeting, and the Mental Health Team. Students may meet with Ms. Kosin, Social Worker, Dr. McDowell, School Psychologist, Mrs. Isaacson, School Agency Partner, and Grade Level Counselors.
Kids can sign up for KIDS RIDE Free Cards, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday. There will be a sign-up sheet in the lobby at 8:00AM. Students should see Ms. Jones-Hinnant if they have questions.
