Permanent Principal Announcement for School Without Walls High School
April 2, 2021
Dear Parents and Families of School Without Walls High School,
A central pillar of the Walls community is having a strong and impactful school leader for both our scholars and our staff to depend on. In October 2020, we shared that Assistant Principal Sylvia Isaac would transition to Interim Principal at Walls for the remainder of this school year. Principal Isaac has been instrumental in leading our school through this unprecedented year, and I am pleased to announce that she will continue as the permanent principal of School Without Walls High School for School Year 2021-2022!
Before being named Interim Principal, Sylvia Isaac had been the Associate Principal at School Without Walls High School for the past 14 years and in the field of education for 35 years; serving this entire time at DC Public Schools. Principal Isaac is a dedicated and student-centered educator who believes all students can achieve excellence and excel in a caring and nurturing academic environment.
Principal Isaac has successfully taught and engaged students as a classroom teacher in AP US Government and implemented the College Board instructional standards in the presentation of classroom instruction. She believes that communicating the school vision and expectations with faculty, parents, community representatives, and students is central to school success. She describes herself as an educator who partners with all School Without Walls stakeholders and DCPS to ensure students are provided with the resources and support to achieve academic excellence.
Principal Isaac’s proudest accomplishments as an educator are supporting high-graduation rates for students and preparing them for college and career success. She has also supported, and established afterschool tutoring programs with George Washington University and collaborated with a Humanities teacher to institute the Senior Project. Her guiding principle is that everything educators do in schools is to inspire students to acquire a love of learning and establish high expectations.
I am confident that this next phase of excellence at School Without Walls will lead to the continuous development and success of our students, under the leadership of Principal Isaac. I look forward to supporting her and the entire School Without Walls as we finish out this school year and begin to look toward the excitement of next year.
