End of SY2020: HSA Message to SWWHS Community
Dear SWWHS Community,
School Year 2019-2020 has come to an end. At this point of the year, we expect to be celebrating, preparing for summer vacations, summer jobs, and in the case of Class of 2020, preparing for the next exciting chapter of your lives.
This year, we are struggling through all of the above, while also facing the universal uncertainty of a pandemic. We are struggling while confronting a painful reminder of ongoing injustice across our country.
Walls is a community of activists, and unsurprisingly, students from our community took part in the protests held over the weekend. Students marched, spoke out, and called for peace and justice.
To Students: As parents, we’re concerned. We are concerned for your safety, and we are concerned for your health. But we also see you, are proud of you, and stand with you, because Black Lives Matter.
You say it best, so we borrow from you below.
Despite all that you are facing at this moment in time, you have excelled in ways that we could not have fathomed only months ago. You make us proud and give us hope.
Congratulations to our students, who have worked hard, adjusted, and persevered in the face of unimaginable circumstances. A heartfelt thank you to our Teachers, Staff and Administrators, who have lovingly shepherded our students and families through this process (while also adjusting, persevering). A warm hug to our families – we miss you.
We look forward to Class of 2020’s virtual graduation ceremony on June 16 and wish our SWWHS community a healthy, safe, and joyful summer.
