Community Service Opportunities this Fall

Fall is in the air and these next months have many holidays that let us take pause and appreciate what we have. It’s also the perfect time to help others have moments of fun, love and celebration. Please help us make a difference in October and support Goods for Good (G4G)

  1. Give a Child the Gift of Halloween. We want all children, regardless of circumstance, to be able to celebrate holidays. Through “Boo In A Box” you can provide a family living in a shelter with the items for a wonderful Halloween celebration. Help us make it possible for 100 children to receive these goodies. Details, including information about what goes in the “Boo In A Box” are on the Sign-Up (you can look before committing). All “Boo In A Boxes” must be delivered to any Ally site by October 22nd in order to be delivered to families in time. Deadline: October 22.

  2. Support Vulnerable Migrants. Since May 2022, over 10,000 migrants from Texas and Arizona have arrived in Washington, DC. G4G continues our partnership with SAMU First Response, and MigrantHelpDMV in supporting refugees in our area. Donate gently used, casual clothing in small and medium sizes for men and women, and children’s clothes of all sizes. Please ONLY donate the clothes requested on our UPDATED list. Volunteers are needed to help sort, organize, and stock the clothing pantry so migrants can select clothing throughout the month. All details are on our Sign Up (you can look before committing). Drop items off at any Ally location (as well as Broad BranchMarket).

  3. Cook with Your Heart to Feed Those in Need. Feed residents at area shelters. Details about the types of meals, locations, dates, times, etc. are on the Sign-Up (you can look before committing). In-person opportunities are also available! If you want to cook but cannot drop off, sign up and then contact G4G for delivery support.

  4. Create a Birthday Box. Through this project, you can provide a family living in a shelter with the items for a true moment of joy and celebration on their child’s birthday. Details including information about what goes in the Birthday Box, dates to sign up, and locations are on the Sign-Up (you can look before committing).
