Congratulations to Avajane Lei - 2024 Ellie Becker College Scholarship Recipient

The late Ellie Becker was a long-time volunteer at School Without Walls and within the Foggy Bottom community.  For the third year, a graduating senior has been chosen to receive the Ellie Becker College Scholarship. Students who have been chosen for this award exemplify the mission of SWW as well as Ellie’s life’s philosophy, which embraced participation in her community, preservation of the immediate environment, and policy activism on numerous levels.

The scholarship committee members were delighted to interview three finalists, all of whom demonstrated bright intellects and Ellie-worthy life ambitions.

We are happy to announce that the 2024 recipient of the Ellie Becker College Scholarship is Avajane Lei. She now joins the previous two years’ awardees as an Ellie Becker Scholar.
